Helping to get the country’s retail industry get back to work

Bindatex Slitting and Sheeting is helping the country’s retailers get back to work. We have recently completed and shipped our first order of cut protective film. It is being used in homeware shops up and down the country to enable shoppers to “try and buy” new furniture.

The sheets of protective film empower retailers to allow shoppers to sit on furniture whilst minimising the risk COVID-19 transmission. Furthermore, it is easy to dispose of the sheets after use.

Bindatex Slitting and Sheeting provides a bespoke service, cutting suitable materials to any dimensions. In this instance, we cut a durable, protective film that protects upholstery and helps to prevent contamination. As a result, furniture retailers can resume business more safely in line with government guidelines

Protective sheets ready for despatch…

Bindatex’s customer, TPS Displays placed a large initial order for a major national homeware chain. With the relaxation of the government’s lockdown regulations, this retailer reopened stores for the sale of furniture on 15th June,

The order consisted of a large quantity of sheets of protective film cut to precise dimensions. These match the retailer’s ranges of furniture and shipped directly to stores and through the customer’s distribution hub. There was clear need to get the non-essential retail sector open for business again as soon as possible. This also helps the economy bounce back. Bindatex Slitting and Sheeting was able to turn this requirement around within one week from initial enquiry to delivery into stores.

Fit for purpose

The sheet of material has the ideal dimensions to be draped over a chair or sofa, hugging the contours. The customer can try the piece of furniture before buying and will get the full experience of the product.

The material is durable, non-absorbent and is easily replaced after each use. It provides a barrier to contamination and will be used by the retailer as a key element of their COVID-safe practices. Consequently, there is no requirement to quarantine the item

“Being adaptable and versatile is something that we have always been proud of. We began this shift in capacity in March when we die-cut disks to be used in ventilators to help in the UK wide effort to supply the NHS, so to help the nation get back to work completes the circle after these hard few months.”

Chris Lever – Managing Director, Bindatex Ltd;

“We are used to slitting difficult-to-cut materials, however we can turn our hand to anything, no matter how big or small the order. All the team enjoy the challenge of coming together to provide solutions to resolve new problems and working to quick turnaround times.”

Focus on service

Bindatex Slitting and Sheeting offer an extremely quick turnaround time. This is imperative because of the rapid changes that retailers face. As a result, we can help shops to become operational again as lockdown measures are eased.

Bindatex Slitting & Sheeting are also able to provide slit sheets as well as the slitting service. We offer material cutting, slitting, sheeting and winding services to manufacturers across the UK. We are a supply chain partner in many sectors, including aerospace, automotive, hygiene, defence, PPE and consumer products.

Bindatex is currently researching thinner and more light-weight alternatives, and can also offer alternative films with different properties which can be used in a wide variety of sectors and applications.
